ALL DAY • Technology Exhibit: Global Technology Expo Deployment Demonstration
Location: Heifer Global Village, #1 World Avenue

GTED2 is being developed pursuant to an Accord to accelerate the deployment of proven technologies. The Accord was reached in Little Rock in 2012 between the 97 former Presidents and Prime Ministers of the Club de Madrid and the P80 Group (which works with large Pension and Sovereign Wealth Funds). This Preview Expo will feature exhibits and other information concerning  technology companies and NGOs, which utilize technologies in their work. There will also be an exhibit showcasing plans for GTED2. The Technologies involved are useful in dealing with resource areas of energy, water, food, clean air and medical services. The participating NGOs include Heifer, Winrock International, PeaceWork, the Clinton School and the Small Enterprise Assistance Funds Group. These NGOs collective operate in more than 60 developing countries globally.

SPEAKERS

FRANK GRUBER

Frank grew up in the Midwest heartland and is an entrepreneur, new media journalist and investor. He is the author ofStartup Mixology: Tech Cocktail’s Guide To Building, Growing and Celebrating Startup Success published by Wiley. He co-founded Tech Cocktail in 2006, which has grown into a hub for the creative class, offering tech startup focused news, events, and resources. Frank has built and launched products for the masses while at AOL, Tribune and Classified Ventures along with startup efforts like Thankful For, Splog Reporter and more. As a journalist his works have been featured in a number of top media publications like TechCrunch, Fortune, ReadWrite, HuffPo, etc. He was named by Forbes as one of the most connected people in tech. Frank is also a Venture Partner with Crystal Tech Fund. His alma maters include Purdue and Northwestern respectively. While living the startup life, he also enjoys swimming, strumming his guitar and/or ukulele, warm weather, beaches and sports – especially the Chicago Cubs.

Frank currently lives in Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. but travels a lot as he circles the globe speaking, hosting events and helping entrepreneurs, startups and technology communities amplify their local technology signal.

 

MICHAEL BURCHAM

Michael is President & CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. A serial entrepreneur who began his career at Hospital Corporation of America, Michael has a passion for helping individuals organize and grow their businesses.

Michael served as President of Paradigm Health from 2000-2007. Paradigm Health specialized in the management of life-limiting and life-threatening medical events and was sold to Inverness Medical Innovations in December, 2007.

Prior to joining Paradigm Health, Michael was President of Theraphysics, a venture-backed, specialty rehabilitation firm he founded in 1992. Theraphysics was acquired by Beverly Enterprises in 1998.

Prior to Theraphysics, Burcham worked for Hospital Corporation of America as Vice President of Managed Care for Centennial Medical Center.

In addition to his work in the healthcare industry, Burcham teaches Healthcare Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. 

Michael is a member of the Nashville Capital Network.  He serves of the Board of Nashville’s Technology Council, Nashville’s International Business Council, and Nashville’s Small Business Council. He is also a Special Venture Partner with Galen Partners Investment in New York. Michael is also a strategic advisor and Board Member to a variety of startup firms and venture capital funds involved in healthcare and technology.

Michael received his undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his Doctoral Degree in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. Michael is a frequent National speaker on executive leadership, entrepreneurial thinking and innovation. He resides in Brentwood, TN.

Michael also serves on the Arkansas Venture Center's Board of Advisors and was recently named a Co-Chair of U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker National Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
